The oceans are in peril and there is much work to be done. Over
recent years there has been an urgent call from ocean scientists,
economists and experts throughout the world to change the way
our country and others approach the oceans.

have been created at national and regional
levels. It is therefore
imperative that, in light of the rate of environmental change, regional action is organized to best serve these priorities.
