The Monterey Bay Sanctuary Foundation offers links to educational materials
(including powerpoint presentations, audios, and summary documents) from a
series of trainings and workshops that are focused on marine protected areas
science, communications and monitoring. In 2008-2009, the Monterey Bay
Sanctuary Foundation held a series of workshops for docents, educators and
public audiences to increase understanding and awareness of benefits of the
California network of marine protected areas. Drawing on presentations by
internationally and locally recognized experts, expert scientists, policy
specialists, and local residents gained valuable information to:
- Interpret and communicate key messages concerning MPAs;
- Understand the science and importance of MPAs; and
- Better comprehend the political, economic, and cultural significance of
MPAs.
Many of the educational documents and presentations can be accessed below.
