California is leading the nation in establishing a statewide network of marine protected areas (MPAs). These MPAs protect our ocean for future generations much like our national parks have been protecting our nation’s natural forests and wilderness areas for nearly 150 years.

This exhibit will introduce you to the new California, Central Coast, network of marine protected areas. Come celebrate the magnificence of these unique ocean areas and learn where they are, why they are so important, and how you can explore them. Exhibit photography by Kip Evans.
