Dear MPA list-serve-
The Monterey Bay Sanctuary Foundation is currently working on building a
Facebook page as part of the MPA education and outreach project. Facebook
is a social networking website where users can create and customize their
own profiles with photos, videos, and information about themselves.
Increasingly, Facebook (and other social networking tools) is being used for
causes (such as Seafood Watch) or particular locations (such as Monterey Bay
National Marine Sanctuary). Below I have pasted some links to a few
Facebook pages
1) Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary-

Each of these websites uses Facebook slightly differently; it can be used
to: 1) solicit funding, 2) announce special events, 3) get people to vote,
4) educate and inform group members about specific issues. We are
interested in knowing the extent to which you actively use these types of
websites presently. Also, if you have a chance to visit some of the sample
Facebook group pages above, we would be interested in knowing which aspects
of the page were most informative. If you have other examples from
individual sites or causes, we would appreciate you sharing your thoughts
with the group.
If you have never visited Facebook- here is how you can sample the site.
. Go to:
http://www.facebook.com/index.php?lh=6e568447f4e501037e8d7e38a50d9820
<http://www.facebook.com/index.php?lh=6e568447f4e501037e8d7e38a50d9820&> &
. Create a profile by entering your name and email address.
. If you aren't comfortable entering your accurate information, then
create a phantom profile (just write down the birthdate etc that you enter
so you can re-enter the website if you care to in the future).
. Then hit sign up.
. It is Free - no hidden gimmicks.
Let us know your thoughts and share ideas with the MPA listserve. Thank
you.

Unless someone like you
cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better,
Its simply not.
